I usually like to hand books off and share, but this is one that will become a part of my classroom library. I loved the writing and how the subject was handled. I feel as though kids going through this would get a lot out of this book.

,,,,, so,,,, le dediqué las últimas 4h30 a skippear dormir y leer los ⅔ q m quedaban del libro.,.,.,. y while i mostly liked it i hate hate hate q los finales d este tipo d libros (YA with mentally ill protagonist ahre) sean SIEMPRE igual,,,,,,,,,

The first thing that attracted my attention was the title. It's very powerful and deep and as I read the novel I understood exactly what it meant. The weight of Zero was the reason Catherine's life was so influenced by her mental illness. The narrative was so well written and spectacularly captured the journey of a person experiencing pain. It showed how bipolar disorder didn't affect Catherine but that she let it control her life. The novel displayed the guilt and turmoils a person feels. How Catherine was so ashamed of admitting to a part of herself that will forever be with her and how society made her feel this way. Her guilt for causing so much stress for her mother. The emotions displayed were so complex and realistic.
Despite all this, I believe the novel also showed how much power a person can hold. How, even though the person can't control their mental illness, they have control over how much it impacts their life.
This novel was so inspiring and was so easy to relate, even if I don’t have a mental illness. It showed that everyone experiences pain, no matter when or where they are born, what gender they are, how much money they have or how popular they are. Everybody experience pain and no one is more entitled to it.
Pain is pain. It's important to stay honest and say honest to get through it.

I really enjoyed this, its not a subject matter I can relate to but the author did a really good job at portraying the highs and lows of a mental illness like this and having the reader understand how debilitating it can be if you don't address it.
