a surprisingly fun read! i found this book on a top ten list for slow-burn lesbian romances and BOY was it slow-burn.
it was (mostly) worth it in the end, though i wish there had been more than one ~spicy~ scene. after all the pining and sexual tension, it was hardly the intense payoff i’d expected but still satisfying and very in-character.
Lee Winter is a great writer. she doesn’t dawdle on unnecessary detail and seems genuinely in tune with current trends and queer media. the references to The 100 (bury your gays, ClexaCon) threw me WAY back to my younger fandom days but it was a welcome levity to the intense emotional plot.
overall a fun and complex story that i really enjoyed for more than just the spice… and the audiobook narrator was STELLAR.

I swear all books I've read so far that have been published by Ylva are becoming a 5-ish read 😂
Pros:
- The main characters in general. Summer is a sweetheart and Elizabeth is my loveable introverted ice queen ❤
- The romance had me hooked from the start. The chemistry was overflowinggg
- I love how they go into detail about a director's art choices in a movie. Makes me so knowledgeable.
- I was soooo emotionally invested in the story. When Summer cried/upset, I was also upset. Summer is truly a gem, I LOVE HER <3
- I could go on and on, but I virtually love almost everything about this book
Cons:
- I wish there was more. Like an extra, extra epilogue. I don't care what Winter does, (as long as it's not a stupid breakup scene for more drama) I just want to see Summer and Elizabeth together
- The side characters weren't as loveable, they were just okay 🤷
I feel like I'm going to be thinking about this book a lot. <3
