I actually really enjoyed this book because of the side we see of Henry. I'm not saying he is looked over in other books, but in this book particularly we learn a lot about him personally and it's brilliant to see.

Like every book in this series, the relationships (blooming and glooming) are absolutely brilliant, plus the ghost! It was awesome!

If Blood Trail is my fave then Blood Debt is my second fave of this series. All the ghosts that appeared to Henry were such a mystery and I do love a good mystery.

Like the others in this series, I generally like the writing and the characters - it's just the plots that never seem to pan out how I want. In this book particularly, Tanya Huff spends a lot of time being like "look at how the outcome of end of the 4th book is impacting things," which is a thing that should happen, but not like for 90% of the book. The issue is just the same thing over and over - it's not like there is anything new happening with it. It seems like the main plot is ignored in favor of focusing on that which I didn't really appreciate. There is also a pretty sizeable event that isn't really dealt with at all?

It's a fine end to the series ultimately, if you liked the other ones you'll probably like this one but the 3rd one is still the best one.

I loved the series as a whole, but absolutely hated this book. The characters were not in line with the previous books. Henry was completely neutered as a vampire, and the same is true of Celluci as a detective. This felt like self-insert fanfiction that forgot what story was being told.

I found this one a lot more hard going than the other four. As I said in my review of book four, (obviously you always want a series to go on forever but the adult, accepting part of my brain thought) it should have ended there.
