trigger warnings: sexual assault, abusive ex, gaslighting, harassment, slut shaming, sexual content, alcohol, divorce
A really touching romance that is brimming with passion and also hella anxiety. I did appreciate the care with which the author wrote the romance between the two leads while the main character was also dealing with her abusive ex coming back into the picture and making her life a living hell. I loved the growth of both the leads together and as individuals leading to them being stronger together in the end. Also the vindication in the conclusion.....absolutely epic.

+1 for diversity
+1 for "I want to admit that I already added a note on my calendar that May seventh is the day I met you,"
+1 for the meet cute at the bar & librarians named Gladys
Sadly, the book fell flat for me. I wanted a cute and sexy contemporary romance and this blurb was misleading, I wish I had been aware of the trigger warnings.

“I’d let those four walls become my whole world, and I didn’t know who I would be without them.”
rating - 5 stars
trigger warnings:
How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams was one of my favorite reads of this year (hands down!). Naya has trouble with putting herself out in the world, specifically after the abusive relationship with her ex three years ago. However, she meets charismatic Jake at a bar one night and the rest is history.
My favorite part of this book was how well Naya, and Jake communicated with one another. They truly worked through their misunderstandings fairly well (besides the big conflict that ends up tearing them apart). It could be because both characters were in their thirties, but I need more books like this. If this is how Denise Williams writes her couples, she will quickly become one of my favorite authors. Also, the fluff and steamy scenes were great too.

also there is blackmail with her ex using intimate pictures he took of her, (toxic relationship/gaslighting/domestic abuse/sexual assault) refer to her ex, Davis, showing up and trying to wreck her life.
