It's not good. The MC, the daughter, the dog, the neighbor, now of it was good. But especially the way it vilified religion and tries to elevate atheist as the only truly intelligent characters.

This novel follows Elizabeth Zott, a chemist in the '50s and '60 who is constantly doubted, never given the roles she deserves, and whose research is denied because of her gender. The little feminist that lives in my heart was 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 constantly as I read. I thought a lot about my own grandmother, who likely would have pursued her own career in ministry if that had been an option. Garmus's narration was superb. I mean, if you can get me to like a dog character, you've won me over. Not 5 stars because it felt a little overt at times, like I was watching a Grey's Anatomy episode where they are too obvious about a social issue. I listened this time but will likely read it again in the future.
