What is it about witchy rom-coms all having colonizer under (over?) tones. Jeeeesus.

well… I have tried to read this book multiple times and never felt connected to it. I finally finished the audio version and enjoyed it much more. This was a cute + fun spooky themed rom-com full of witches, spells, and a curse. It was quite fast paced, especially as an audio. Unfortunately, for me I just found it to be really cringy. I skipped a bunch of parts and had a hard time finishing it. This definitely felt more YA. I didn’t really feel the connection between MCs nor did I care for it. I was just bored

Dnf’d 25%. Couldn’t get into this. The magic system wasn’t explained. Maybe it would have been explained later.

Have to DNF this book. 52% through this and bleh. Honestly the random English phrases were the last straw for me lol. I’m just not interested in meh romances anymore and this one is super meh.

The story was enjoyable and lighthearted, but it lacked any true depth. I thought the setting of the book was interesting, but the magical elements were lacking. For a book about witches that live in a witch-college town, they surprisingly knew very little about magic. It was the least compelling aspect of this book.

Most of the characters were charming, but I disliked the sister, Gwyn. She did not experience any character growth and did not contribute anything meaningful to the story. In addition, I did not like how her romance subplot was resolved.

Finally, the resolution was a bit abrupt. The author raised the stakes very high in the last few chapters, but then resolved the issues quickly. I would have liked to have seen more of the characters grappling emotionally with the consequences of the hex.
