This was really cute. I wasn’t sure how much I was going to enjoy a modern witchy love story, as I tend to go for more high fantasy type worlds, but this was really enjoyable. A quick read with a bit of spice. The plot did move really slow at some points and really fast at others, but overall - a good little comfort read. I kept thinking about how it would make a great movie.

This witchy book is fabulous! I devoured it in a couple of days during spooky season and I loved every bit of it. If you’re looking for something light, but spooky (no scares involved), this is the book for you! The Ex Hex is about a witch named Vivienne Jones who *accidentally* put a curse on her ex-boyfriend, Rhys Penhallow, for funsies and he doesn’t even know it.

Fast forward nine years and Rhys has plans to return to Vivienne’s witchy town to recharge the town’s ley lines. But when Rhys arrives, Vivienne learns that her *for funsies* hex that she put on Rhys has some pretty strange consequences...I found The Ex Hex to be absolutely hilarious and a perfect read for spooky season, although this book is honestly perfect for any season.

4.5 ⭐s. This was everything I wanted out of a witchy romance and more. Excuse me while I chase this high by reading every other one I can get my hands on. Thank God it seems to be trending rn.

Just about everyone is saying this is a bit Practical Magic, a bit Gilmore Girls, and a lot of cozy romantic fun. Yes to all of this. I went in with high hopes and it pretty much read itself.

Loved the fall vibes, the generous sprinkling of magic throughout, the sense of humour, the banter between the MCs, the secondary characters.

My only complaint is that the initial central plot point felt like it took the back seat to the relationship once that started rolling along. I’d have liked a better balance. Perhaps the book needed to be a bit longer? The ending felt rushed.

Good October-y romantic fun. I’d happily read it again!

THE YEARNING UGHHH. This book was so so so good??? Erin Sterling (alternatively Rachel Hawkins) has written some FAB books and this one seems to fit her aesthetic the most. I've primarily read her YA romances and idk something about this book just made it seem like the author was much more at home with the age, characters, and world building.

I loved the second chance romance. The initial breakup wasn't too unreasonable or insignificant to the rekindling of the romance. I loved how drawn out the mutual pining was even WHILE they were hooking up.

I thoroughly loved the small town witch lore that was cultivated. I kept thinking of The Raven Boys books but like adult and *better*. I also really really loved the delicate balance between character driven and conflict driven. It kept the pacing of the book nice and brusque. There was no place for me to get bored which explains why I finished this in a day.

So so so good and I can't wait for what looks to be a sapphic companion heheheheh
