Enjoyed it. Listened on audiobook, and found it entertaining to listen while driving in the car. Daisy is off to Scotland on the train to do an article, but things start going wrong right at the beginning of the trip: Alec Fletcher's daughter, Belinda, has stowed away on the train and suddenly Daisy has the responsibility for her. An old school mate also turns up - and the old school mate's entire family, who are going up to Scotland to see a dying relative. A death ensues, and Fletcher and his team are fortunately at hand to investigate.

Love a good 'locked-room' (i.e., moving train) murder mystery. Really enjoying these Daisy Dalrymple books to pass the time.

Daisy's in danger of heading off the rails!

Daisy's embarking on a journey to Edinburgh and her biggest worry is that she has forgotten her book, so how will she pass the time? Her concern proves to be pointless, however, as once the journey begins Daisy finds a pint-sized stowaway on board - Belinda, the daughter of dreamy Detective Chief Inspector Alec Fletcher, Daisy's beau.

No sooner has this problem revealed itself than Daisy and Belinda run into a bickering Scottish clan en route to the deathbed of the head of the family. But before the express reaches its first stop, one of the greedy McGowans has turned up dead. Is it murder? Daisy's willing to bet her first-class ticket it is - after all, the victim was the heir-in-waiting and she's sharing the carriage with an entire family of suspects who have everything to gain by his death...

From Library Journal

When someone murders the ne'er-do-well beneficiary of a family fortune aboard the famous train, the Honourable Daisy Dalrymple, also on board, becomes involved. Set in 1923, with a cast of greedy suspects, a good bet.

Love this 4th mystery in the Daisy Dalrymple series. This time Daisy is on a train when a murder takes place. Unfortunately, Alex's daughter has stowed away on the train and is the one who discovers the body. I enjoyed this because we get to see more of Alex's personality and the relationship between him and Daisy grows as they both try to protect Belinda. The narrator of the audiobook was fantastic! I look forward to listening to more of these mysteries!

My rating is high because for a short mystery, it is an easy-fun read that kept my attention. The mystery is not bloody and gory. There are many possible suspects, so it is not obvious who may have been the murderer. It is just an overall relaxing read. I like the little step back in English History as well.
