The whole book is like a continuous description. You have no dialogs and the sentences are long.
It's not what I usually read and I am not comfortable enough to continue it.
It contains a lot of violence and swearing. It's a bit to much for me now.
Maybe in the future I will give it another chance, but for the moment I give up.

I am truly without the right words to describe my feelings on this book. Told through interconnecting stories, Hurricane Season gives various perspectives of those living in a small Mexican village after the local “Witch” is murdered. The book is riddled with violence in all its forms: physical, emotional, sexual and familial. It’s a brutal read with a heaviness that leaves little to no space to catch your breath through the weight of it. Because of this it feels odd to say that I liked this book, but I know that it is one that will stay with me for a long time. The writing style is not just unique in form, but is also done in a way that carries the emotional toll of the book’s content. Everyone in this novel is a victim and also a perpetrator feeding into the real-life domino effect of capitalism, greed, hate and patriarchy. Not a novel for everyone, but definitely a novel for me.
