WHAT I COULD SAY?

The illustrations and texts were IMMACULATE! I was caught off-guard on the first page's illustration, it is so beautiful. And the texts accompaniment makes it better!

This story is about an inquisitive bear yearning to explore the world, looking for a place where she feels enough. For she thoughts that the world is a big place, and a bear must go where where it wants to be.

Apart from having immaculate illustrations, the writing styles are quite neat and witty, i love how the author makes the sentences raw, it makes the story more uplifting and fun. Man, I thought this might be an average read, but was I wrong? TOTALLY!

I highly recommend picking this book for a read aloud activities as it could appeal to toddlers interest, on top of motivating them to find what they crave in life (within toddler level of thinking).

‘The Bear and Her Book’ by Frances Tosdevin with illustrations by Sophia O’Connor is a picture book about a bear with a special book.

A bear and her book titled ‘Bear’s Book of Being Wise’ sets out to see the world. As she travels, she makes new friends and her book helps in unusual ways. What waits for her at the end of her journey is sure to bring a smile.

I loved this gently rhyming story of a bear who loves books. The illustrations are lovely as well.

This is such a cute book! I love that it has cute animals as well as books as part of the story and the illustrations are just fantastic. The writing has a good rhythm for the most part and I really like the subject but every once in a while the rhymes or rhythm wasn’t quite right and it threw me off. Overall though, this is a really fun book that we’ve already read three times.

This is a review of the text and story of this book, as my particular advanced copy did not seem to have illustrations readily available.

The Bear and Her Book is about a Bear that wants to see the wide world and takes off with a book to travel. Along the way she meets multiple creatures, and the wisdom of her book allows her to help the creatures. Eventually she arrives in a place with many books recognizing that you can explore the world through books as well as through travel.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and this is definitely a book for book lovers, and would be a fun read aloud to share with children the joy and possibility of books and libraries.

The Bear and Her Book is a beautiful idyllic picture book with a tremendous quest for self-fulfilment. This book embodies themes of friendship and kindness. The lyrical rhyming text is easy to read aloud and children will love joining in with the repeated phrase. I particularly liked the way Bear refers to her Bear's Big Book of Being Wise to help the different animals she meets on her journey to find her perfect place to be that satisfies her curiosity and her desire for adventure. There is a totally satisfying ending that will resonate with book lovers everywhere.

The superb comforting illustrations with their soft neutral colours create a calm, relaxing atmosphere that compliment the text. I like the way Bear’s Big Book of Being Wise stands out red against the gold, green and turquoise colour palette.

I recommend this book to teachers and parents. A treasure for any book shelf. A joy to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Tosdevin for the eARC! This review is my own opinion and words.

I adored this book! I loved the sense of adventure, the compassion toward other critters who crossed the bear’s path, and the illustrations are beautiful. This is definitely one that I enjoyed sharing with my own young kids.
