an ex-hockey player turned brooding pastry chef? YES PLS. the sexual tension between them plus the amount of flirting was insane. the way lucian put thought and care into everything he did for emma was probably the sweetest thing i’ve ever read. and the way she helped him through his pain!! UGH. they were everything!! and i LOVE that they didn’t break up in the 3rd act! they stayed together despite individually having to work through their shit. more of this in books!!!!! such a fun and sweet romance!
Peter Pan - Kelsea Ballerini
The pining and the yearning and the PINING in this was PAINFUL. Like, my heart was genuinely in pain. Lucian was so torn between who he was and what he wanted to me, with the addition of having a shit romantic relationship foundation, there was no way he would have been able to come to his resolution without trying. I get that. But the way he did? Urgh I wanted to drown him in the pool. But also, Emma had an even worse foundation - I feel like this was glossed over a bit, there was a lot to interpret here and not a lot of guidance during that process compared to his journey - so her giving him space like that was a recipe for disaster (no pun intended).
Their love story felt real and messy and a little gross (all that buttercream?! I would spew .. or get a yeast infection) but the way they found each other again at the end? Delish. Would sell my life kidney for an extended 5yr epi

A hockey player who bakes? Don’t mind me, I’m just still over here on the floor swooning. Seriously, though, Lucian is amazing. I wanted to knock some sense into him at times, but I love him so much. And Emma is just completely wonderful. Throw in the amazing side characters and you’ve got a book I can’t recommend enough!
3.75 i enjoyed that a lot!! i was hooked by the banter and chemistry right from the start (a little instalovey, but i didnt mind it so much here) my biggest problem was that ironically, it was a little Too Sweet at times. also the endless descriptions of food made me really hungry

This was such a good book. It definitely made me hungry for all the decadent desserts. This book is about Emma who finds refuge at Rosemont - as well as a grumpy ex-hockey player who can make sweet sweet treats with his hands. Although the two are broken and scarred, they fit perfectly. There's a lot happening in this book including abusive relationships, broken dreams, friendship, family, stardom, moan-inducing treats and lots of steam. This book felt a little long in parts but I wouldn't change any of it. And be warned - this is not your average Epilogue.
This is 50% food smut and 50% smut smut, presented by a brooding ex-hockey player with issues. There’s nothing wrong with this book necessarily but it just is what it is.
