I know this is a romance, but can these two get a room? They are literally obsessed with each other from the first time they meet and the dialogue between them was almost too cringe to read at some points. With the whisper of a plot in this book, I found myself basically skimming the pages by the end just so I could finish it. Also, some of the most repetitive writing I've seen. If you have a food kink though, this is THE book for you.

I liked this book surprisingly a lot. I love Lucien and Emma and the whole location was just beautiful. I also liked the other characters very much. There was not so much subplot, the whole focus lays on the tension between the two characters and their relationship. Towards the end (the last 150 pages) there was more plot so it was ok. The whole book consisted of tension, spice, cute scenes and many beautiful locations really.

Another great read of Callihan's. It was sweet and sexy. A grump and sunshine--one of my favorite tropes. A retired hockey player and an actress getting the ax (think Daenerys in GoT). I found myself laughing out loud more than once while reading this. I really needed something light and fun after reading a gut-wrenching series just before this, and it was the perfect fit.

Pastries, banter and chemistry

Listen y’all know I love hockey romances.. add in baking??? That’s just the ultimate combo for me.

I loved this so much, wanted to smack Lucien upside the head a time or two but loved him all the same.

Must read

While reading this I felt like I was transported into the story and seeing “fame” through the eyes of the characters. Emma and Lucian’s dynamic and cemetery was evident from the very first interaction. Their back and forth banter and intense longing was very entertaining. The way the desserts and pastries were described made me want to try everything. Every time Luc would put his foot in his mouth I wanted to scream at him because it caused distance between them. Even though his reasoning for his actions made sense, doesn’t mean I liked it. They both went through some growth and made each other better in the end.

Sweet love story between two people who were crapped on in their prior relationships and finally find love. I enjoyed it.

I loved this book! I was craving a romance with some humor and steam and this book delivered it so well! There is a little bit of a hate to love vibe that provides some great banter, and there is serious chemistry between Em and Lucian. Also, I know a lot of romance plots suffer from extreme predictability, and yes this one is still predictable (not a bad thing though, we're talking about romance after all) but it also doesn't just resolve with a happy ending after a big fight. This one goes on a little longer than that and I don't know how to explain it, but I appreciated it nonetheless. Also it a was the perfect amount of steam to me, and ugh I definitely recommend and will be reading more of her books! I actually read this on Kindle Unlimited but had to order myself a physical copy since it was on sale and I loved it so much. Next up that I probably should have read first: Dear Enemy!

This is the first book I've ever read of Kristen Callihan's and I was really impressed.

I love the growth, the vulnerability, the fact that the struggles in this book were internal. Bonus points for making sure that both of the characters had time and space to figure out their own shit so that it really felt like they were coming together in the end to build something new together. LOVED the characters (main and side) and the strong relationships the characters had with other loved ones.

Warning: Do not read while hungry. Descriptions of food in this book will make you super hungry.
