Sweet Enemy

This was absolutely gorgeous. I love how Emma and Luc cared for each other. So dreamy.

Star hockey player who bakes with his heart on his sleeve?! Yes please! I had my fingers crossed for a slow burn, and I had my prayers answered! Lucian is an athlete ruined by an injury, and Emma is an actress who has been killed off her show. They are both struggling to find themselves after losing a piece of themselves. And they found each other at just the right time. If you’re into adorable pet names, boy is this the book for you! I loved the character Sal and Amalie brought to the book. The support, while sometimes misplaced, from the people around Em and Luc was exactly what they needed. They found such comfort with each other. No matter their own emotions, they just really wanted what was best for the other. And for as sweet as everything was, of course there was steam to enjoy while their sexual tension simmered! Especially when the wonderful “there’s only one bed” trope appeared! But that didn’t stop the sweetness. Lucian was always so worried about showing Emma how weak he was. When in reality, she never saw him as nothing less than strong. My heart broke for Em and Lucian’s family when he made decisions without truly considering the consequences, but deep down I understood him.

My Favorite Quotes:
•”Don’t stay out of my way.”
•”You seem intent upon making me sweet.”
•’That little bee nibbling on her honey pie.’
•”You’re constantly trying to taste my creams, aren’t you, Emma?”
•”With you, honeybee, I will always be a gentleman. Unless you don’t want me to be.”
•”The more I get to know you, the more beautiful you are to me.”
•”When I finally get to taste you, I want to be able to sink into you afterward. I need that, Em.”
•”You’ve been wrecking me from the moment we met.”
•”Now that I have you, I don’t know where to start.”
•”Let’s fly, Lucian. Just you and me.”

It was sweet, I'll give it that. Both characters were sweet, lovable and witty. They made each other laugh and forget about all their problems. Lucien was grumpy marshmallow and Emma was just sunshine. They were fun to read about and pretty much had a smile on my face throughout. I was to try all the delectable treats, honestly, it had me pretty much salivating when one of those delightful delicacies were mentioned. Saying, there isn't much that goes on in this book that is aside from the romance. It was all sweetness and witty banter with some angst sprinkled in. Given both their careers I would have expected more I suppose in terms of outside of their relationship.

Sports Romance is slowing becoming a favorite and this one was really good! Grumpy/angsty ex hockey player hiding out with his grandma when along comes Emma. Their story was so good and loved the journey they both went on. Both had some inner self things to work on and discover before they could fully open up.

Rosemont sounds amazing and wish it were a real place! I recommend even listening to Edith Piaf while reading! I didn’t realize I liked listening to French music! It was fun listening to Edit while reading the book.. made it feel like I was reading it at Rosemont!
