This was a sweet story of two lost souls hiding away from the world, but finding each other and learning how to heal.
So full, and rich, and complicated. Low angst but all the feels--just the way a book should be. I am reserving my 5-stars for books I will actually read again, despite my TBR. This is a 4.75.
I really enjoyed this! I thought the relationship played out really well and I liked all of the characters. I’m excited to read more from this author
I decided to read this one because someone is a review for another book I am reading said THAT book was a copy of THIS book. I wouldn't say that's true...but what IS true is that they have very similar plots. I actually chose THAT book because it was recommended as having good representation for disability/chronic pain. I don't know that I would say that about this book. There are some health issues/elements to this story...but they're definitely not shown in a way that impresses me as being great representation for chronic pain/disabilities. They're not the opposite either...it's just not a big focus in this story and didn't really do much for me.
I did enjoy this story over all. I think the writing style is more my taste than the other book I'm reading that's similar to this one. BUT...I mean...these characters are not remotely relatable for me. Two very wealthy, famous people who are dealing with "things"...but I just found it hard to connect with them or really care too much. I will say...the Grandmother character in this is FABULOUS. But our main characters just were kinda meh to me...I didn't really find them all that interesting or sympathetic.
But here's the thing...I don't generally LIKE contemporary romances unless they have some kind of a special hook to them...something I can relate to. Reading this was just a random thing that happened because of a comment I read in a review for another book. IF you like contemporary romances...this one isn't bad...it just wasn't for ME. I do think the writing is a step above what I typically find in these contemporary romances...I may even take a look at other books from this author to see if there is one that sounds more like something I would be interested in. This just wasn't it.

Emma and Lucien were okay, I guess
Nothing spectacular. Emma was an actress who suddenly got the boot from her show and she went to lick her woods at a resort. There she met the owner’s grandson who was forced into retirement due to the many concussions he sustained in hockey. Their dance to love was a slow one even though it was clear they were attracted to each other from the very beginning. I got bored.
But if you like talk about pastry and the baking process, you might enjoy this one.
