Tracy.............. what possessed you to do this? I wasted 4 days of my life on this book, and my stress levels are through the roof just to finish it with Hudson being weirdly vague and mysterious for no reason...... I'm going to read book 4, but I am still mad about it.

This book was my favorite so far in the series so far. I love the characters and their relationships. We get to meet some new characters and they did not disappoint. The plot line was obviously continued but it was very exciting pretty much the whole way through. There are some of Grace’s dialogue that get very repetitive throughout the book that is a little frustrating because one, this book is chonky and it’s just unneeded filler, and two, we get it that’s how she feels.. but other than that I really enjoyed this book!

wow

The first two books were a bit slow for me and ‘normal’…whilst this one is full of scenes you cannot even imagine of. I could not put this down until the very end!

So, I read/listened to the first two books in this series, and then my partner and I listened to Covet on a long road trip to pass the time.  I was able to give her a 10 minute synopsis of the first two books, and she really didn't have any questions about the world or characters as we proceeded through Covet.

This book was great for the long drive - we both laughed, cringed, rolled our eyes, gagged, complained, and gave each other bewildered looks for the entirety of the narration.

Like Crave and Crush before it, Covet could have been so much shorter had Wolff focused on the plot and not inane conversations between characters that did nothing but reaffirm that they are all one-dimensional and devoid of personality.  The first half of the book was mostly just nonsense filler that tried to establish the new weird dynamic between Hudson and Grace and Grace and Jaxon and Jaxon and Hudson, and the actual plot didn't even start to develop until about 45% of the way in.

Grace's sole character trait is that she is anxious. ALL OF THE TIME.  I get it; she's been through a lot.  But the girl needs a valium with the number of times her heart was pounding, her stomach was roiling, and her body was swinging from hot to cold.  Every other character except Hudson is completely forgettable - Hudson seems to be the only person who has complex thoughts and voices them.  I felt nothing when people died (sorry), though
I found the scene where Hudson was killing imaginary Grace particularly satisfying.
Grace's internal monologues got old pretty quickly as she overthought every interaction, situation, and emotion, and about 75% of the time I just really wanted her to shut up.

The plot doesn't have much substance to it.  The bones of the storyline are fine, but the actual execution was lacking.  I've mentioned it about the previous books, but the author just seems to be really lazy in her world building and scene development.
The big battle scene at the Unkillable Beast's cave was described entirely through what Grace heard as she was focused on saving Flint.  We're told that it was violent and bloody, but we never actually saw any of the battle.

In summary, if you've read this far into the series you won't be surprised by the quality of this book.  It's more of the same just with the addition of
extremely uncomfortable not-sex(?) scenes between Hudson and Grace

I will save the next book in the series for a future road trip where I feel like tormenting my partner some more.  :)

So much has been going on! That was a wild ride! This is a testament to how powerful Grace really is but this girl cannot make up her mind on if she wants to be with Hudson or not. I mean, I get it! No one knows if they’ll even survive this whole ordeal once everything is over or not but I just think she was so wishy washy with her feelings and it only hurts Hudson even more. They mentioned that Flint and Jaxon were the “original” fated mates? I want them to be together!
