I’ve read this book many times before, just read a chunk of it on a plane to kill time.

I liked this book more than I thought I would considering Isaac Asimov definitely respected his made-up robots more than the women he interacted with in his life. Susan is a good character and a great indirect narrator, and the short stories are thought-provoking and fun, especially when you consider how old this book is. I’ll forge ahead in the series and see how it goes.

The writing was solid no complaints there.
The characters did not feel like people - however, due to the plot being the main drawing point of this book and the development of the world this does not really detract that much from the novel. On the other hand, given there are many characters that appear in multiple of the stories it would have definitely added to the novel as some of the characters I found insufferable and others felt very flip floppy with not very well set up motivations (Dr Calvin).
As for the plot, I liked it more in some of the stories than others. My favourite stories were the ones that stuck to the 3 rules of robotics and the way that they intersected. There were some stories that, in my opinion, digressed too far from that and, as a result, they felt cheap in way. However, seeing the mysteries unfold was interesting in all the stories and they were engaging, with one exception. The final story felt like it was rambling and I found it very boring.

All in all, it was okay - no regrets reading it.
