This book was a bit slow but overall great - I loved how this book covered some harsh and difficult topics but it was heartful and sweet at the same time? Like how did the author get it right to discuss some heavy things such as grief and suicide and also make it heartwarming and sweet?
Helen was a really good character in the sense that she was real and I liked how she was seen as someone on the outside looking in.
Grant was grumpy and sweet at the same time? I loved how he dealt with grief and death in the background so that the family could mourn out loud. Overall he was my favourite character.
The spice in this book was surprisingly good for me.

Yulin Kuang has an incredible voice as a writer and it absolutely comes through. If you’ve ever followed her career, you’ve seen what an insightful, witty, whimsical, and melancholy voice she has for story and setting. You feel like you know these characters and/or are part of this life and world that she builds. The heartbreaking aspect of this is that there is an HEA but not a perfect bow on all the relationships which makes it all the more poignant and touching. I really loved the story and watching these two fall in love.
