Extremely repetative without actually being very helpful. No real examples. Confusing instructions repeated so many time with different nonsense verbiage as to be barely comprehensable.

I didn't feel like I was learning anything, and every few pages felt like a rehash of the 'taking notes is important' point. Which I knew; that's why I was reading the book in the first place.

An excellent companion piece for 'How to Read a Book" despite not intending to be. The book is a light, even enjoyable read that is quite informative.
I myself have a workflow inspired by the Zettelkasten, but not a complete recreation.

Although I didn't read this with the intent of improving my writing skills, I found this book insightful in a number of ways. Ahrens explanation of note taking to make better use of knowledge and ideas have a place in creative outlets as well as technical outlets. As a sound designer, I'm really interested in improving my note taking to better recall my own methodologies and explore new ideas for creating. The slip box method provides a lot of helpful options for developing a living note system.

As far as I can tell, Ahrens‘ Book makes Luhmann’s slip-box (Zettelkasten) tangible the most.
Intended for academia, Ahrens provides insights for any style of writing, long-form and short-form, fiction and non-fiction.

Was an informative and in depth book about an effective note taking system. If I utilise this technique and find it beneficial then I would rate it higher but as I have not yet, I think it was an average read.
