ok so my kindle has finally led me to the deepest darkest and nonsensical part of the ebook world with this one. Post-apocalyptic spanking cowboys, just as problematic as historical romance spanking cowboys, but with less logic and more nonsensical storylines.
This book had holes within holes in it until finally the author had written herself into a corner of absurdities.
She should have just written this story as a silly historical romance and not tried to jazz it up with post apocalyptic hogwash. This book was just too short to contain so much fictional ambition as to exist in the past as well as in the future. There was very little world building done here or much background given on this apocalypse, why it happened and it’s results. We are led to believe the world needs to go back to the Victorian Wild West - exactly as it was originally - in order to colonize and repopulate the earth. People had to dress and act accordingly and feminism in general must have been a huge cause of the pollution, because it doesn’t get to exist either. But guess what? Goats and horses and pigs and chickens and bears exist even though the apocalypse ended all life on earth and only humans lived on the starship that people evacuated the earth to live on.
I hope the writers of the series The 100 never read this book as they could sue for rights as the Endeavor and its rules and regulations were verbatim from that show. But I digress. In order to survive on this newly colonized earth, it is vital that all women stop thinking for themselves and utterly and completely obey every utterance from their husband or risk harsh physical discipline. This is important for the survival of the species because there are wild bears and stuff around, or you know, other reasons.
Can I just get to the point and say forced spanking and domestic discipline is not sexy when it is non-consensual, and in the case of all of these kinds of stories, it inevitably is. These wives have no choice but to submit to their bully-husbands, this wasn’t sexy 200 years ago and it isn’t sexy now. If you are looking for either a hot cowboy read or a sexy post apocalyptic story, look elsewhere.

The story have a very interesting and unique premise/ storyline. The story itself is sexy, and sweet with a hint of angst. Aurora and Isaac have entertaining interactions and chemistry.
