Was not crazy about this one. I liked the first two books in the series so much that this was a bit of a let down. All of the characters from the previous books, with new additions, go on a quest together. If you really enjoy stories where a group of characters go on an adventure together, you may like this. I personally like stories that focus on just two characters meeting and developing their relationship.

I have continued on to the rest of the series and plan to read all the books. Unfortunately though, I have yet to like another book in the series as much as the first two.

This series just continues to get better. I was a little sad to go back to just Sardelle and Zirkander's POVs but Tolemek and Ahn's additional views would have been too much, even though I love them as characters. Jaxi was my favorite with her snark in this book. Many more humorous points in this book that made me giggle.
I really enjoyed the magic and steampunk elements colliding in this book.
It didn't end clear cut like the previous two, and it has me ready to move on to book 4.

I'll be honest, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this one as much as I did. It's the first part in the series not focused on a budding romance, and I didn't care for the characters' lives as much to find the mission very interesting. But Buroker did a great job of fleshing out each character and drawing me into the story. Theres a solid plot, nice writing style, witty dialogue, and very tense action scenes. I may just need to buy the rest of the series to see where the story goes from here! (Even though I really do not like these covers.)

The series kind of took a dive. The first book was a great read. The second was enjoyable. This one just kind of feels like it is forcing the characters along a path to the next book. I understand that this is a part of a series, but the end of this book does not feel finished.
I enjoy Lindsay's writing style and story-telling, but this story just felt flat to me.

In this book our four main characters Sardelle, Ridge Zirkander, Cas and Tolemek come together.
Between trying to keep Sardells sorcerer background secret, the mystery surrounding Tolemeks sister and the war with the cofah, this book was pretty interesting.

BUT, I thought this was a trilogy, I did not realize it was an EIGHT book series.
Unfortunately I don’t know if I’m into this story enough for five more books.

Not a bad book in the series but it is certainly worse than the previous two books given that the new introduced characters aren't as engaging as the last couple books, and the ones that have carried over already have fully fledged relationships.

This book ends up being all action which is nice but is a departure from the the tone of the previous two books
