I saw this book at Powell’s in Portland labeled “number 1 bestseller in fantasy”. I’d never heard of it but bought it on the spot (something I’ve literally never done as I tend to borrow from the library and only buy books I’ve previously read). It was incredible. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about reading it. I’m going to buy the sequel tomorrow. I’m hooked!

This was a really fun read. The world building was excellent. It broke out of a lot of the cliches of the genre. I really look forward to getting the next book in the series!

The beginning of this book was really interesting and captivating. However, from the middle to the end it was slow and I started to lose the plot. The premise of the book is very interesting, I just don’t think it was executed all that well.
