Wow. Reading this was like having a mirror held to my face and a spotlight on the world. So densely packed with unfortunate truths. Showed me how many gender stereotypes I've internalized and have yet to unlearn, and how the best way forward is to actively change my mindset, call others up when I can and raise my kids with this standard.

I also didn't know it was only 48 pages? Very light read, yet heavy content.

We should all be feminists and we should all read this well-written, concise book. Do you have 15min? You'll thank yourself.

Um livro rápido para o começo de reflexos sobre como a misoginia afeta o dia-a-dia das mulheres

So much gold in so few pages! It's an essay so a quick read but highly recommended for anyone looking for writing about feminism and gender. I first came across her work through a suggested reading list of feminist work and after she was highly recommended by some colleagues I borrowed a copy of this essay to read. Of course many are now familiar with her because of her TED talk and Beyoncé, neither of which I have seen/heard before this. I am definitely going to read her novel next!

I couldn't have said it better myself

3/5

The essay was depressingly interesting, but not groundbreaking, as, unfortunately, I’d already been familiar with all the dreadful concepts. Nonetheless, I can see how it could be an influential read for many.

Also, gee, the voice of Chimamanda is what God would sound like (if I believed in one). Absolutely divine.
