Potentially Life-Changing
I became interested in Stoicism a few years ago, but I couldn’t find a book that clicked with me. Of course, I’ve see Ryan’s videos before, and I just thought they made sense, but they were also intense. I finally picked up this book, and it really clicked with me. It is well-written, there are lots of interesting stories, and it provides practical ideas to make yourself a better person instead of abstract rules. It’s simple, but as Ryan states, it’s not easy. I finished this book in one week. I read it as often as I had time because it was so good. And I’m hungry for more. I highly recommend this book.

Easiest DNF of my life. I’m sorry but praising someone because they didn’t get mad that they were wrongfully imprisoned for 19 years is a stupid take. Anger is a normal, healthy emotion as long as you don’t let it rule you.

An excellent introduction to Stoicism befitting of the time we live in. It explains the principles very well, with examples of historical people of the last centuries applying them knowingly or unknowingly. A simple and accessible way to get introduced to philosophy in the practical way it was intended to be used, rather than boring scholarly study.
A cute collection of selected stories that have been applied to stoic thought. The last chapter & author's recommended book list were excellent.
Undeniably a good read as far as mindset goes. Just wish that some of the examples used weren't also awful people (Margaret Thatcher and Steve Jobs) but if you remind yourself that they were undeniably successful there is still something to be learned from their examples.
Life changing read for me.
Wonderful introduction to the Stoics.
Highly recommend this book.

I liked "The Obstacle is the Way". I consider it one of the better books that I've read that discusses attitude and perspective and how that affects your ability in overcoming adversity. It's also interesting because in many places, it references Stoic philosophy.
Some of the supporting ideas, I found to be slightly outdated. However, overall, it's a quick read with many solid ideas for overcoming adversity, and creating opportunities when your path seems blocked.

This book has me excited to learn more about Stoicism and made the topic feel accessible in a way I haven’t encountered prior. It’s a fairly easy (and fun) read and offers a wealth a knowledge.
It felt too repetitive, the same concept is drilled over and over again. It’s not a bad book, just that if you’re familiar with stoicism and especially the concept of resilience and persistence, there’s nothing new here.
