This has got to be one of my favorite books out there. If someone has came to me and said what is your personal philosophy, I would tell them to read this book and learn it. This is the Bible of what I live my life to be like. I wish more people knew about this book.

This is by far my most gifted book. I want to give a copy to everyone who is in jail.

This was my first Ryan Holiday book and I'm glad it was. I knew about him before and I was excited to dive into it and had high expectations, and this book surpassed it. In the first half of this book, I kept getting this thought of "how come there's a book with this much knowledge on it and there are so many people that don't know about it? what took me so long?". It's deep, it will definetely take at least a couple more re-reads for me to get a glance at the full spectrum of its true meaning. And as Ryan says, it is indeed simple, and again yet so profound. The title now makes complete sense: obstacles of life are the way life is composed, and they are it, and it is only - and only through them that we can truly live a meaningful life. Once I got it, I started taking a whole new look in life. Absolutely loved it!

Too many sports metaphores. Got annoying.

Intro to Stoic resilience

Ryan Holiday did well in using the examples of the greats (Teddy Roosevelt, Marcus Aurelius, etc) to show that resilience is the nicer way to live which gives more joy and freedom of choice. The book urges us to moving past the inconvenience of obstacles to their benefits.

I rly rly like ryan holiday’s writing style.

smthg abt it is just… so comforting? I can’t think of the exact words to describe. it makes reading non-fiction fun. in a way, it’s a writing style that is easy to digest but also quiet motivational.

my point is, this book was good!

again, I love how he incorporate the examples through each chapters. I just love historical examples. I actually learn lots of fun facts and tiny details form the example.

his books r very motivating. makes me think abt what I am doing. definitely recommend

A concise summary of the key components of stoicism, with a nice blend of practical applications and historical examples that kept me engaged. I listened to the audiobook version and will probably revisit again.
