Full of practical advice in bite-sized chapters. A modern day review of stoic philosophy, though a little too often couched in pro-business/entrepreneurial type language. The historical anecdotes weren't especially useful or insightful either. Still, gave me a lot to think about and was a quick, easy read.

Another great book on the Stoic virtues by Holiday!

An easy 5/5!

Happy reading, everybody!

This is a must read! It doesn’t matter what you do or what obstacles you face, Holidays philosophical perspective will turn your views into a dream chasing, motivational way of life.

While a lot of advice in this book is sound, it is really repetitive, often shallow and quite obvious.
The title already sums up most of the book. Don't get discouraged by complications but seek to confront them in order to advance. See, I didn't need 200 pages to say that.
This book does, however, inspire further ideas and thoughts on stoicism. Additionally I found the number of allegories, sayings and examples at least somewhat entertaining.

This author skimmed over so many examples and did not do enough research on the examples provided. Correlation does not imply causation in many of the examples listed. Female examples are almost nonexistent throughout this book as well. Not a fan.

The book felt like it was written when Holiday was jacked on coffee. There is some bloat that could have been removed.

Cringe. Advices that are built upon hypothetical observations are cheap, really cheap.
