I found the first quarter of the book too centered on traditionally masculine ways of moving through the world to suit me. There’s gotta be more out there in the business book/self help world about being calm under pressure and making your own opportunities

A good book that works through a foundational idea in Stoicism: that the Obstacle is the Way. Through perception, Action, and Will, you can change your idea of looking at obstacles as obstacles, to the obstacle being the way forward.

This is the least favorite stoicism book that I've read. It just regurgitated stoic ideas that were summarized much better by other authors.

The paragraphs on stoicism drive our daily life and work. There is something that we can only learn in the hands of life. This book brings the knowledge of many philosophies to make us turn our Obstacles into opportunities.
Ryan Holiday has always done a great job in this book. This is the best book to keep on your bedside table and read a few pages before going to sleep or starting your day in the morning. The philosophies motivate you to take action.
It teaches us how the knowledge of stoicism can solve almost every problem in our lives. The author divided this book into 3 parts; Perspective, action, and Will. He talks about different approaches and ways to see, act, and accept obstacles. Also, all these lessons are supported by examples of people who have applied all this in real life.
The book will not tell you steps to solve a problem but will guide you on how to respond to a problem so that you can find the solution to your problems.
It's not a life-changing type of book because most of the lessons and things you have probably heard. But we fail to apply those, so this book works on the application of the philosophies.
RATING: 4/5
Recommended to everyone. If you need motivation do something better in life. Keep this book at your bedside and read a few pages each day. It will change the way you see problems.
