Good intro to stoicism in modern society, with more motivational (i.e. anecdotal) prose than actionable. It is making me look forward to reading the original texts!
Somewhat confused, somewhat thankful. I have a mix emotions in reading thus book, One is that I soon learnt that this book is too optimistic even in if the author mentioned that its not a book about optimism. Second, The book is a good start for people who wants to learn a very short introduction to philosophy. I soon realised that I didn’t really learn much from this book. I came by the thought that I actually know more than the book can offer.

“By all means, vent. Exhale. Take stock. Just don’t take too long. Because you have to get back to work. Because each obstacle we overcome makes us stronger for the next one.”
I like a lot of the general ideas in this book, however, it starts off by saying that it will not be a book of motivational platitudes …strongly disagree… Ryan Holiday is oversimplifying and overstating the power of turning obstacles into opportunities. Kind of a stocism 101, a bit simple and I did expect better going in. However, still worth the read.
