I just love Roberts characters. I fell in love with Stella and her two boys. I love the way the women interact and support each other.
Definitely going to get the third and I might of enjoyed the second more if I had read these in order.

What. the. Fu@*?
We just aren't going to solve the mystery? Like at all?
It has just come to my attention that this is the first book in a trilogy. So this makes slightly more sense now.

This book is about three women, who intersect at the Harper House, which holds a ghost known only as the Harper Bride. Stella Rothchild has lost her husband, and moved with her two boys to find a job at In the Garden nursery. Rosalind "Roz" Harper is Stella's new boss, and asks Stella and her children to stay at her house for a trial period. Hayley Phillips is Roz's near-cousin, pregnant and looking for a new start, living in Harper House until she can get back on her feet.
The Harper Bride loves children and their mothers, but she becomes unhappy when Stella becomes attracted to landscaper Logan Kitridge. As the romance grows, so does the ghost's anger, until the women of Harper House start searching for the ghost's lost history.
A bit of romance and mystery, this book is quite clearly part of a set. New romances are budding as the first develops, and while you learn some things about the ghost, secrets still remain.

I'm done with NR. I think ive outgrown her predictable formula. I just can't care about her same characters, different names, different titles over and over anymore. This is the McDonald's of fiction. DNF. Left it half finished in a hotel room on purpose. Maybe whoever finds it will like it.

This book and the 2 following it, made me want to garden. Really great story line.
Blue Dahlia by Nora Roberts is the first book in her In the Garden trilogy. For me, it's a fast-paced read that gets it really right -- the right amount of romance, mystery, and characters I find interesting. Beyond the blooming romance between Stella and Logan, Blue Dahlia is a ghost story centering on the Harper Bride, a mysterious benign-ish entity that sings lullabies to kids but who gets a bit angst-y when she disapproves of the adults.
Set in Memphis, Blue Dahlia offers southern charm and a setting amid a thriving nursery and a stately old home known as Harper House. I'm not a gardener, but love plants, flowers, trees, and all that goes with it so this setting with all the floral details was perfect for my tastes.
I recommend Blue Dahlia to any Nora Roberts fan as well as anyone who enjoys a ghost story alongside their romance reading.

June 2017 // I love that Stella was the first featured in this three book series. She definitely my favorite of the three women as is Logan a favorite character. I just enjoyed this book and the mystery aspect (even if I have read it before).
November 2014 // Can you really go wrong with Nora Roberts? There has not been a single Nora Roberts book that I haven't enjoyed. She's very addicting and I often find myself reading her books in just a couple days whenever I pick one up and this was no different. I'm definitely excited to get into the next book.
This book introduces three women: Stella, Roz, and Hayley. They are different in age but all come together over flowers and form a bond and a friendship. They have been through similar situations and all find themselves alone. When Stella comes to work for Roz, she begins to change her life and the lives of her two sons, especially when she finds herself attracted to Logan who is the business's landscaper. They start a relationship, but soon Stella realizes that there is a presence in the house that is unhappy about their building relationship. So the women begin the investigation into who the presence is and what she wants.
I look forward to starting the next one as soon as possible, which continues the story of the three women and the mystery of their presence. It was a quick ready and definitely enjoyable.
