So much of the book makes no sense. You could cut about a third of the story with no change. The characters act in ways that are confusing and they even seem surprised by themselves. It's a disappointing follow up
Graphic: Murder, Violence, Racism, Death, and Domestic abuse

‘I really do believe that no matter how bad things may get, if you hang in there, they can only get better’.
This book continues the journey through the dystopian Noughts and Crosses world created by
Malorie Blackman and is just as captivating as the first.
Knife Edge could not be a more appropriate title because this book does take a dark turn, and my nerves were in tatters for the majority of pages.
Blackman describes Knife Edge as her ‘book about hate’ and as ‘the bleakest of the Noughts and Crosses series’ and I can definitely feel that.
The character driven, first person perspectives continue with Jude taking a more prominent role in this book. And whilst his growing anger and hatred makes for an uncomfortable read, it raises important challenges and provides insight into how hate can arise and grow, often from a place of fear.
I love Blackman’s style of writing, it challenges your mindset, keeps you on your toes with a brilliant plot and engaging characters but it is so so easy to read and you can’t help but keep those pages turning.
This is one of the best sequels I’ve read and I can see this series becoming one of my absolute favourites.
