I have a feeling Jonesy will hate me for saying this, but this is really cute! Jonesy is a wonderful protagonist with awesome powers and a lot of opinions about the world. The art is wonderful, Jonesy is hilarious and the story-line is intriguing. I know it's just a four-issue comic for now, but I've got my fingers crossed to see this become a longer-running comic!

Jonesy is about the self-titled sassy character that can make people fall in love with anything but her.

This graphic novel is colorful, simple, and full of different people. Jonesy is a young Mexican (I think) girl with divorced parents and massive hair. Her father makes donuts and hilarious dad-puns. Her friend Susan is black and likes girls. It's hard to tell with the color scheme, but I'm not sure there's even white characters.

There isn't really an overall plot, but rather each chapter is its own fun adventure. Sometimes there's an end to the adventure, sometimes it's just wacky fun with no point. It certainly feels like a middle grade book and not teen.

Personally, Jonesy isn't really my thing. It was cute, and I'll read the sequels because they're quick reads, but I think I'm just too old to really love it. For its intended age group though (estimate at maybe 10-14) I think it's a must read.

Cute, very quick read. Would probably like it if I could read all four volumes at one go.

Super cute & fun pop punk MG comic.

I appreciate having a girl that seemingly rejects traditional femininity still be unashamedly in love with pop music star.

Jonesy is headstrong, acting first in big bold moves. She's learning to be a good friend and think of others. It's hard when you're an only kid of a single parent. It's easy to think of only yourself...because there's been only yourself for so long.

I love her donut shop running dad.

I'll be continuing this for sure!

hey goodreads peeps, do you know about a thing called hoopla? let me tell you about hoopla, because i, actual genuine working librarian did not know of this service until today

(i don't do public library digital subscriptions in my job. also to be entirely accurate i had heard of hoopla, i'd just never used it and only knew it in the vague way where i could maybe describe it to you but it would not occur to me to try it out)

ANYWAYS. hoopla is a library subscription service that lets you read comics online! and afaict does NOT do the overdrive nonsense of pretending like only one person can read a digital book at a time and forcing you to wait through 'holds'. you want a comic on hoopla, you read it IMMEDIATEMENT

(also movies and music but i don't care so much about those)

i tell you all this because i discovered this comic through browsing through hoopla! it is about a TUMBLR TEEN CUPID with the ability to make people fall in love with whoever she wants (she discovered this when she one day used those powers to get her anime ship together! :D) so far it is SUPER CUTE? and incidentally very brown, four for you sam humphries, i will absolutely take cute comics about poc teen girls experiencing MAGICAL LOVE SHENANIGANS ADVENTURES for four hundred

4 stars

Oh MAN! How cute is Jonesy!
Call it love at first sight, but I am swooning over this first issue. Jonesy is a spunky, cynical, anime- watching, possibly super-power wielding, kiddo and this first issue is SO sassy! I highly recommend this one and I can't wait to see this series develops.

I love the art style but the stories didn't do much for me. I'm just not a huge fan of the "selfish kid sabotages themselves" genre. The language also feels a lot like adults trying to write kids. doesn't always work out.

I really enjoyed this little graphic novel collection! ('Jonesy' collects issues 1-4.) In some places, it did feel a little young at times, and a little... immature? - I couldn't tell who the audience were meant to be. Perhaps middle grade levelled students, because that seemed to be the age of the main characters. ANYWAY.

Jonesy has a really cool "superpower" - she can make people fall in love! However, her curse is that she can't cause someone to fall in love with her. It's a really sweet premise for a graphic novel series.

This book was so DIVERSE! The main character was POC, and her enemy-turned-friend best friend had a crush on a girl and it was taken so smoothly! Like, "Who's your crush?" "Uh, that girl over there..." "Oh, cool! We need to get you guys together. Like, ASAP."

Basically, the whole thing was adorable and loveable and I'm so glad that I read this book. I will definitely be picking up Vols. 4 --> if I get the chance!

Thank you very much to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC. :)
