Audible version: Okay, so sometimes I do like historical fiction (does this qualify since it takes place in the 20s?), and this cozy mystery was fun! I liked Beryl and Edwina almost immediately and only liked them more as the story went on. Barbara Rosenblat's narration was just splendid. All the characters in the village made for a good story and the laugh out loud humor made it a listen to look forward to. I have the second in the series and look forward to revisiting Walmsley Parva again in the future.
One thing that stood out to me on my first time through this fifth novel in the series is just how much Barbara Rosenblat brings to this series. I really don't think I'd enjoy it nearly as much if I were reading a physical book.
The mystery wasn't as mysterious this time around (not book 2 levels of bad, just fairly obvious who the killer was pretty early on), but we got some interesting character development. I thought book 4 might be the end of the series, with Edwina's new position, but obviously there's still a lot more adventure for the ladies of The Beeches, Walmsley Parva. (I would like to see Ed in her magisterial robes, and something MUST happen to force Charles into an extended stay at The Beeches, as well!)
As always, audiobook narrator Barbara Rosenblat gets 5 unequivocal stars.

As a quick check of my profile page will show you, I don't review often and my reviews aren't the best you'll read. This book deserves a better written review than I can manage. I enjoyed it tremendously.
It reminded me of the old style English Mysteries where the characters are the important part. It will be well worth your time should you decide to read it. I won my copy in a Goodreads giveaway, but that had no effect on my review. It is just a good, fun book to read. I'll be looking forward to other books by this author.
