Oh my god what was that ending? I did manage to spoil the twists for myself halfway through, but somehow, I’m still extremely fricking surprised by that ending?

I thought she and Jaren would talk it through, that Jaren would know about her identity? But he doesn’t? Wow. That’s crazy.
I still don’t quite believe it though. Her inner monologue just gave no indications when it definitely should have.

It would have been more believable if she had suppressed all her memories or something and everything had snapped back into place when her Tipp almost died. But (unless I missed something?) that wasn’t the case. If she had mentioned every now and then that she couldn’t remember her mother’s face or that her memory was hazy or something, the sudden change and the fact that none of her inner monologue ever gave any indication that she knew more could have been easily explained.

Also… poor Jaren. I can already feel the heartbreak coming.

I think if I could give this a 3.7 I would. I enjoyed how this book had such an unusual setting. Some of the twists didn’t really come as twists and were pretty obvious to guess. A couple of them were really good though, especially at the ending I was like WHAT.

The first twist I *mostly* saw coming but that final twist? I was shook. I don’t believe I’ve ever read a third person limited book where  protagonist purposely hides information and leads the reader to believe a completely different narrative until the final reveal, so that was fun for me. I’ll be going into the second book picking apart the narrative to see if the protagonist is being fully truthful to us the readers, or if she’s leading me into another direction again until her next reveal.

When i read it i feel kinda boring at first, it's not because the story is bad, but there's nothing much happening. The only interesting part for me is when The Trial. BUT THE ENDING???? THE PLOT TWIST??? I DIDN'T SEEING IT COMING?????? Plot twist after plot twist after plot twist.

And now i want to read the second book immediately, i want to know WHAT HAPPEN NEXT. But i'm still recovering from what i just read. THIS IS CRAZY. I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
