Featured a pretty galling use of  antebellum slavery as a shallow vehicle for relationship drama. The ONE time Ever reincarnates as anything other than white she’s a slave so that Damen can come save her. The rest of the book sucked in the same way the whole series has, I’m just kind of astounded by this subplot in particular.
