Although I'm still thoroughly enjoying my reread of this series, I've come to realize the author tries to jam too much into one book for my taste.
As usual, I want to try to leave this review spoiler free. For that reason, some of this may sound cryptic. Eve had quite a huge personal revelation in the beginning half of this book. It was used as a tool to explain why her usually sharp mind missed some little details in her case, but wasn't really mentioned much more. I know what was revealed is extremely important to help Rourke and the reader really understand Eve. Yet I also feel there were so many other things going on (the wedding, her investigation, Mavis) that, by the time I got to the end of the book, I almost forgot this very important thing was revealed. That bothers me.
I still love these books and will still continue the series, I just feel this one was a little too much information overload.
Update 9/7/24 after re-reading via audiobook:
I'm not sure what the difference was this time around, but I didn't have that same feeling of the story being too much this time around. There is a lot that happens and I still wish more had been made of Eve's revelation, but being as I'm at the point that I know there are a LOT more books in this series it didn't bother me. Yet I'm not changing my 3-star rating because I felt the pacing was off and certain aspects of the story were dragged out for too long.

Both aspects of the book (romance and police) were deficient in this book.
The romance felt as it had to be there just because it was part of the series. Roarke is a flat character and in this particular book didn't have any place in the detective side (how many times can he be a suspect in his fiancee's ungoing murder investigation?) so his appearances felt just as if the author had to fit him somewhere. I kept hoping he would have a great background to make him more interesting but when he finally explained part of his origin, it was just another disappointment.
The police part, on the other hand, was a joke. It is the third book in the series, and in every one of them the murderer is the person who the protagonist didn't like for some reason. In this book, I was relieved to have reached 92% of the book without Casto being involved in the murder, when in a rushed ending he gave a full confession in a situation where, if he would have remained silent, he would not have been caught at all! Nonsense...

Another interesting read! I didn't like the case in this one as much as the first two, although the culprit definitely kept me guessing! I thought I had figured it out, but was terribly wrong...perhaps because I did like this character an awful lot during the novel! Eve seemed to be a bit more abrasive in this outing, though I loved her relationship with Peabody and hope that it (and Peabody) figures more in the rest of the series!
I was surprised that the wedding occurs off page - especially with the lead up throughout this novel. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series!

Another great instalment in this series. I find them easy to read with intriguing storylines and some great characters. Always some interesting characters, but the main ones are great. Liked the introduction of Peabody, hope to see her more in the future books too. Would recommend.

In this book Eve is investigating the murder of a famous model, Pandora. And must protect her best friend Mavis who is the prime suspect, all while planning her wedding to Roarke. This wasn't as good as the previous two, it was nice to explore Mavis and Eve's relationship. But I didn't care for the story as much.
