Liked it. Love the characters. Good twist. Just felt a little forced and not sure why. But I love Dallas so much I'll keep the series going.

this book circled a lot around main suspects but didn’t close in on the killer till they literally announced themselves. and i remembered the identity of the killer since my first read so i wasn’t surprised.
loved meeting leonardo. peabody was more bold and sassy than she’s now.
loved that moment between eve and summerset.
🩷
“He caught her chin in his hand. "I'm hopelessly in love with you.”
“Eve." Roarke grabbed for her hand.
"You wouldn't do something ridiculous?''
She tugged her way free. "I'm getting married, aren't I? What could be more ridiculous?”
“She allowed the fatigue to seep back, linked her arms around his neck. "You going to tuck me in again?"
"All right." He hitched up her hips so that her legs wrapped around him. "But this time you stay where I tuck you.”
“Roarke winked at Mavis and called after Eve as she stormed away, "What about your crepe?"
"Stuff it."
"She's crazy about you," Mavis commented.
"It's almost embarrassing, the way she fawns. Want another crepe?”
“Darling, before we shift into the official mode, what do you have on under that dress?"
"A device designed to drive men wild."
"It's working. I don't believe I've ever seen your butt move quite that way."
"It's a cop's butt now, ace, so watch it."
"I am." He smiled, gave it a nice solid smack.”

This was fun
Liked the case
Loved seeing more of eve and roarke
But I wish we had at least a tad bit more focus on the romance, (not just in this book, but in general) we didn't even get to see them get married, like cmon

Immortal in Death
In Death, Book 3
I Picked Up This Book Because: #IDLR
Media Type: eBook/Audiobook
Source: R Public Library/Everand
Dates Read: 3/6/24 - 3/30/24
Stars: 4
The Characters:
Eve Dallas: Police Lieutenant
Roarke: Independently wealthy, entrepreneurial, man of mystery and sexy times
Ryan Feeny (former police partner and friend), Mavis (BFF)
The Story:
It’s time for the WEDDING!!!!!! But there is a pesky murder that Mavis is on the line for. That must be solved before Eve and Rorke can enjoy wedded bliss. There were some rough scenes that I did not see coming but it was more rough for Eve than it was for me.

Lots of twists and turns in this one, with Dallas off-center given that her wedding is coming up and her best friend was set up for murder - lots of personal distractions. Roarke figures it out, just as the killer has her fighting for her life.

I am really getting to know and like Eve Dallas and Roarke, the two protagonists of this series. In the weeks leading up to their wedding, police Lt Dallas has more than her share of jitters. When her best friend Mavis starts dating an up and coming fashion designer, Leonardo, she introduces them so that Leonardo can design Eve's wedding dress. Within days though, a model is found dead at Leonardo's studio and it looks like Mavis is the only suspect. Eve knows Mavis couldn't have done it but she has to put her professional hat on and do everything in her power to clear her friend. Other people turn up killed in a similar way and the link seems to be a new and very dangerous drug, known as Immortality. Eve requests Officer Peabody to assist on the case and Casto from the drug squad is also on the team. Another great story with a really well imagined world.
