Oooohhhhhh this was my first Christopher Moore and let me tell you, I 100% Intend on reading his other books.
I was so pleasantly surprised by Bloodsucking Fiends. I actually laughed, out loud, and I don't do that very often. It was a good story with good characters, the ends all tied up nicely and it was a fun read.
Faults: some parts were a bit stretched, like he wasn't sure how to fit in this bit of information, but those moments were few and far between.
I highly recommend Bloodsucking Fiends if you have a rough sense of humor, a love of vampire-Esk novels and have a good imagination.

OK - This was just fun. I tried to be jaded and above this book (cuz I am sporting an attitude problem at the moment and after reading about 1000 vampire books I think I am all that when it comes to Vampy Fiction), But truth be told I fell into this story and enjoyed it all the way to the end.
The characters were great. Just when you think you have them pigeon-holed into their stereotype they surprise you with a thought or insight and you have to reevaluate. I love that it's ridiculously absurd and yet your heart breaks just a little here and there. (I am thinking of Zelda and Scott as well as the last seen with the Emperor.)
And I love that even though you know what is going to happen - the end is just open enough to keep your head pondering the "What ifs?" even after you tuck the book away and go back to your life.
Yeah. I will read more Christopher Moore.

since my husband bought me the 3rd book in the series I thought I'd go back to the beginning . . . of course in the meantime my husband has popped the spine cherry on the new book, le sigh

I love this series and I can't believe it's been about 13 years since I last read them. The humor and hijinks did not age as well as I hoped, but there were still some funny moments. I had totally forgotten about The Animals and how ridiculous they are.

This book was recommended to me with high praise. I definitely enjoyed the writing style, but I'm half way through and calling it quits. I'm not sure if its a 'it's not you, it's me' or if its just the lack of plot that has me walking away. I'm half way through and feel like the characters haven't moved forward at all for at least the last 75 pages. Maybe at some point I'll come back to finish this.

I liked this! I wasn't quite as enamored of it as I was of A Dirty Job, Lamb or The Stupidest Angel, but I still really enjoyed this. I loved Tommy ... and The Emperor ... and the Animals. :D

Very Christopher Moore, funny, a strange story and still a great read! I love that it is set in San Francisco and that the characters are so out there! I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants a different sort of book, its an easy read and it'll probably be nothing like other books you've read (unless of course you've read other books by Moore). I can't wait to read the sequel!
