(Listened to this in audiobook form from Librivox. The sound quality wasn't the best - it was recorded back in 2006 - but the narrator was good.)

I'm a bit surprised at the relatively low rating here. No, the book is not a 5/5 brilliance, but it's definitely a solid 4. I suppose some might be put off by the 1890sness of the whole thing. But I like that about it. I like a bit of late 19th century quirk.

The Invisible Man is more of a study of English humans and human nature in general than a sci-fi. It could have been edited down a wee bit in the first few chapters, but it's a relatively brisk read (or listen) with a good pace overall. I'm glad I finally read this classic

I did really like this and obviously it's a sci-fi classic but I'm not sure it quite did it for me. Not much profound to say on why, except that I felt that quite a few of the characters were not given enough time to be developed. But the nature of the novel is it's short length I suppose. Still very good and poses interesting questions of power and mortality but wish it had posed a few more!
