The Invisible Man

Asshole becomes invisible and is an asshole about it.

I didn't know what to expect from Wells, other than a little racism, as is usual. A lot more action takes place in this book than in any of Verne's, and it reads closer to Conan Doyle in tone, if not in essence.

I am disappointed in the lack of exploration of invisibility beyond "it's hard to be invisible when people are after you because you're committing crimes". There wasn't much point to the story, and about 70% of the book is spent chasing after the invisible man or watching him go about being invisible. It was entertaining, though.

This book made me change my answer to the ultimate question: Would you rather be invisible or have the ability to fly? Flying it is.

Slow burn satisfying mystery.

Highly recommended. This is a good mystery and a science fiction story. Great read.
