It wasn’t my favorite book by this author. It was okay in the beginning and had a faster pace in the middle, but I actually started to grow bored by the end.

I really enjoyed this one! The smut was absolutely filthy; I loved it! The plot kept me engaged and felt pretty spooky. I do think the book felt a little dragged out. Other than that is was awesome!

I loved the MFC in this book. I thought she was so funny and had a lot of personality. So far, I really like H.D. Carlton’s main characters. I kinda hated Enzo for the first half of this book. By the end, I didn’t really dislike him anymore. Also, all I could think about was how much more I liked Zade. I like Sawyer a lot so I don’t really want to compare her to Adeline, though.

Part of what I REALLY didn’t like about this book was that they were around a creep the entire time. I would’ve preferred if they washed up on shore with a regular guy whose not
stuffing his daughter away in the top of the light house and locking the main characters in their room so he can rape her every night
. Or if they washed up and the lighthouse was abandoned. I think it would’ve been a great book still, if not better. I don’t have a problem with dark or heavy books, I loved Haunting Adeline, but I cannot STAND when there are just predator old men hanging around, adding nothing to the plot until the very end, and groping the main character any chance they get.

Also, I guessed a main thing Sylvester did and knew for probably half the book. It made me mad how the main characters didn’t know when all the signs were there. They fed into the lie that
it was just ghosts. I’m not even mad they believe in ghosts bc genuine ghosts make sense in some books, like Haunting Adeline, but other times I just wish the main characters weren’t so quick to believe whatever and going with it
.

The character development for Sawyer was pretty good and I’m really glad she ends up in a better place than she was in at the start of the book, regardless of everything she went through.

I loved Enzo’s job and passion, too. I feel like I never find books where the main characters have interesting jobs and interests. Most of them are just millionaires bc they were born into it and their only (forced) interest is business.
