This was... a Rollercoaster of a book wow. I thought I knew what it was about but I was lying to myself. I saw nothing coming. The lighthouse. Sylvester, the level of creepiness. I read this at night and I was creeped tf out 😂 was mad. Anyway, I really enjoyed it.
Enzo was very hot cold in the beginning. I loved the friendships Simon and Troy it was so genuine I like friendships like that.
Check your trigger warnings lol.

Like if this man was less unhinged, and the two of them less horny, this book would be a fantastic thriller. NGL, Sawyer made me laugh more times than I expected.

Now, how did they survive this long without brushing their teeth or her getting her period though??

I absolutely loved this book. The mix of dark romance and thriller is just *chef's kiss*. H.D. Carlton is another one of my favorite authors and she does a great job at making you feel attached to some very toxic characters, lol. Her books will continue to have a special place in my heart.

The only characters I liked in this books were Simon and Troy. I really didn't like the romance at all or the main character, and only kept reading for the mystery portion of the book. I can read a lot of things but some of the stuff that happens in this book (hint hint sharks) wasn't it for me and really put me off this book. Don't really have much else to say besides this just wasn't great for me.

Literally only giving it 2 stars because of the mystery/thriller aspect.

Does It Hurt? By H.D. Carlton
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sawyer is running from her past, Enzo has an enormous love of the ocean and an ego to match. When they meet at a bar, little do they know their lives are both about to change after what was supposed to be a one night stand. Enzo’s identity is stolen and he wants revenge. Sawyer just wants to disappear again. When they meet again, they end up shipwrecked and their trouble is only beginning.

While I enjoyed the thriller aspect of this one, the sexual abuse was just way over the top and made the book overall less appealing to me. These two characters may truly deserve each other though.
