Such an easy read and super sweet. Highlights how friendship is so valuable and important, the found family is so amazing.

I loved this book so much. The end of the Golden Boys series, this book shows us how much friendship and family can mean to someone.

At the end of the book I felt a little bit envious of the friendship that the boys had with each other in high school, especially coming from a small town myself. But looking back at my life, I realized I had very similar experiences shortly after I left my small town. I realized I have friends that I am still close with to this day that I consider part of my family, regardless of how often we speak or see each other.

It's so important in life to fiend your "tribe" so to speak. Because those are the memories that will remain with you always. I think this series really does a great job and showcasing those kind of relationships.

'Afterglow' by Phil Stamper continues to prove why Stamper is a big time favourite author of mine. His work is beautiful and it feels effortless to read, no matter the topic. He humanises his characters and makes them feel more than just a word on a page, I feel as if I'm watching Sal and Co in real time and it is utterly perfection to me. If you enjoyed 'Golden Boys' , like I did, you'll certainly enjoy this accompaniment.

3.5 rounded up.

This was a fun follow up to last years' Golden boys in which we get to see what happens to the four friends after their summer vacation as they finish high school and figure out what they want to do next in their lives. Full of friendship, romance, new experiences and heartbreak. Excellent on audio with a full cast of narrators too!

For posterity, this one took significantly longer to read than most. What can I say? I discovered podcasts!

Really strong, if open-ended. Perhaps that’s the point. It felt like the middle of a trilogy. I’d really appreciate followup, but equal parts of me feel that this book is true to life. A golden time in your life ends, the future is uncertain, nothing will be the same, and we have to move on and become new people.

That’s a different story.

I’d love to check in with these characters again.
