It honestly wasn’t that good it got really boring in the middle and I had people persuade me to finish it saying that the other books would be better.

Okay we are improving from the Austere Academy! There is an overarching mystery being revealed which is making the books more interesting.

The best yet! Not sure how a book like this could subvert my expectations while still playing into the traditions of the previous installments. This book was a ton of fun.

  • Plot- or character-driven? Plot
  • Strong character development? No

  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Good, not great. Don’t want to argue about it. (Stole this joke from another reviewer)

These books need to hurry along with the plot. This one barely did anything to help the plot move forward.

Not moving the plot forward is out! Writing in a way that gives the reader just a bit more is in.

With that being said, this author really does write in entertaining ways.

This is one of my favorite books in the series, but the listening experience was ruined by Tim Curry’s voice acting choices. Sunny sounds like a gremlin, not a baby, and Violet’s voice is grating.
