I really enjoy this installment of The Series of Unfortunate Events because of the great character development. Little baby Sunny is growing up, using real words and even saving the Baudelaire siblings' lives. And Olaf gets a bit smarter about defeating the children by planting red herrings. Seriously, Olaf needed a victory after being outsmarted by these kids so many times.

this book is the last of the the books in this series that I remember reading as a kid. so All the others will be new to me. I'm really excited to see how the rest of the series goes.
Great. Maybe my favorite yet, although The Austere Academy was great too. I remember bits and pieces of these from when I was younger but I think I’m getting close to where I stopped reading. Exciting!
"Sometimes words are not enough. there are some circumstances so utterly wretched that I cannot scribe them in sentences or paragraphs or even a whole series of books."
Once again we have a story without any murder, and yet somehow this one seemed even more sinister. With them finding and then losing the Quagmire siblings who seem to have been haunted by their experience and their guardians who were supposed to care for them while one was working with Olaf and the other gave them up when things seemed too scary.
We also had our first glimpse into the conspiracy which I'm sure will become a bigger plot point in later books. I've also decided to give up expecting anything to be realistic as baby Sunny climbed up an elevator shaft using only her teeth. I loved this book and will be reading the next immediately.
