This book is a copy of Icebreaker from the intro chapters to literal scenes in the book. I could give examples for this, but it would be endless. One that comes to mind is when they go out, and he gets jealous and has sex with her in the bathroom. Exactly the same as the Icebreaker scene, and it’s jarring because it doesn’t make sense for the character to be like that, which then makes the plot and character personality confusing. Because this book is trying to copy the plot of Icebreaker so hard, a lot of the plot doesn’t tie up well. I found it boring and lifeless. For that reason, it’s clear that Bloomsbury noticed the “comparison” because when you search “Icebreaker & Collide”, all that comes up is “If you loved Icebreaker, you’ll love this”, it’s like they’ve tried to disguise searches for the comparisons.

For reference:
Collid was published 25 September 2023
Icebreaker was published August 23, 2022

I honestly don't understand how this was allowed to print. It got to a point where I'd be reading and I'd know what would happen next because it's already happened in Icebreaker!

Aside from the blatant plagiarism, I didn't connect with any of the side characters, FMC or MMC. Lack of diversity, except for FMC. I would have DNF'd, but I was curious to see how many more scenes were copied. I checked out at Chapter 7.

I liked the two individual characters, their story and especially that Summer is studying sport psychology which is not common in books I have read so far. However, I thought that there was a lack of chemistry, everything developed a little too quickly and some parts of the book were quite stereotypical and not creative.

Eh, it was alright. Definitely took inspiration from 'The Deal' and 'Icebreaker' - from plot, to romance, and friendships. Which is alright! But it was not better, just another copy. Some setting errors in the book - one line you are discussing plans, and then the next line they are already there. E.g. scene when they are going to Yale - talking about it, and then Bam! they are bumping into the Yale's captain. Author has lots of potential just would like to see a separation from Elle Kennedy and Hannah Grace plot and style.

Love!! Also, Canadian author alert! Totally recommend.
