Ahh it was so good! The plot was so interesting I was turning the pages as fast as I could to see how it progressed!

As I write this review I am placing holds on Libby to get my hands on the second audiobook stat. If all else fails, I will willingly buy the audiobook to continue this journey with Margot.

Firstly, props are needed to 1/2 of the author team: Carrie McCrossen, who also narrated the audiobook. An amazing listen and performance from Carrie. She brought to life Margot, who is snarky and sarcastic and sharp and witty. And not in a cringy way, but a very relatable way of a young woman just so sick and over the BS.

I felt connected to this character. Overall this book has many highlightable phrases that I was chuckling throughout. Giving Veronica Mars vibes for sure, but not copying, this book had its own flair and style.

The characters were thoughtful and actually distinctive and this book stayed at a constant clip giving an ending that was very believable for their world.

4.5 stars rounded up.

I genuinely couldn’t put this one down and finished it in one sitting. If you like Veronica Mars and you’re looking for another snarky teen sleuth, Margot Mertz is your girl.

This is the closest I've come to finding a YA book that's really funny in a while! This book is all from Margot's point of view, and she has a wry tone that's really funny to listen to.

It also deals with a very serious subject, and it doesn't shy away from showing the damage it can wreck on (mostly) girls' lives. Revenge porn is not treated with anything like the seriousness it deserves and I can't blame Margot at all for her reactions to it. The perpetrators are absolutely pigs.

I also liked, although I know that some readers won't, that the ending is kind of open ended. Lives don't end neatly, so it felt weirdly right that, although a huge portion of her life has come to an end, the rest of it is uncertain and uneven, and that's weirdly great. More books should end that way.

The characters are great; no one is completely one thing or another (with a spoilery exception I won't mention, because, er, spoilers) they all have ups and downs and different character traits. It's a great change from the one note characters that can fill other stories.

A great read, one I heartily recommend and hope that plenty of people read.

You guys this was SO.GOOD!!!!! The sleeper hit you didn't know you need to read/listen to! I absolutely LOVED this!!! It made me laugh, it made me angry and it made my heart hurt as high school loner Margot Mertz tries to take down an anonymous revenge porn site with compromising pictures of underaged teen girls.

Perfect for fans of:

- Veronica Mars/A good girls guide to murder
- The 80s movie Hackers with Angelina Jolie
- High school predators getting what they deserve
- Smart, socially awkward heroines working to make people accountable for their BS
- The most adorable misunderstood popular guy/jock hero
- Best friends who get severely tested

This one deserves way more love and attention than I've seen it get so far and I can't recommend it enough!! It was great on audio and a one sitting binge for me.

In general, the X meets X analogy on books is wildly incorrect but, yeah, this one really is Veronica Mars meets Moxie, so obviously I loved it.
