The first book felt mostly like BtVS but this one felt like a blend of BtVS and Animorphs but having it be all about witches and with way more HBO-esque content than either of those would ever have gotten away with.

I enjoyed this way more than the first book, which, while a good introduction to the series, I found a bit slow at times. I think a lot of it was because that book was mostly about setting up the story, the world and the characters. All of that definitely paid off and I thought Fire was more balanced when it came to the main plot vs the characters' personal lives. Also, it was great to read from the point of view of all of the main characters, it was more or less evenly split between the five girls. I get why this was different in the first installment, but it was still odd to get so much from some of them and almost nothing from others. I suspect how much we saw of each of them depended on how accepting and involved they were with their magic and working together. They definitely became a team in this novel and the stakes got even higher. I'm excited to see where things are going. thankfully I have the next volume so I'll find out soon.
It's the start of a new school year and the remaining Chosen Ones have an all new evil to face. But first they'll have to survive junior year.
Nicolaus recovers his memories at last, only to abandon the girls just as the Council arrives for Anna-Karin's trial. As they girls rally behind her things start to fall apart at home for Vanessa and Minoo. Things aren't rosy for Linnéa or Ida either. Linnéa is facing trouble with her Social Services rep and Ida is finally reconsidering some of her... quirks.
Meanwhile, the town of Engelsfors is undergoing something of a happy, yellow, Stepford like transformation and it's beginning to unsettle the girls.
I'd mentioned in my review of THE CIRCLE that I'd come away from it with the biggest book hangover ever and it was so true. I was seriously dying to get back to the story and FIRE was oh, so worthy of a follow up! Course now I have to wait for the US release of THE KEY but that's ok, I'm sure I can amuse myself in the meantime.
Readers, there is none of the sophomore slump here! FIRE suffers none of the typical middle book tendencies. Nope, here you have another installment chock full of teen troubles, witchy issues, and magic. We finally get a little more of a glimpse at the Council as well as Matilda's story. And Ida! We get Ida's point of view - disturbing as that may be. And yes, we're also perfectly set up for the final installment of the trilogy.
Again I don't want to give too much away so I'll end by saying that I am going to be incredibly said to see this series end! I love these characters and I think Efgren and Strandberg have done a truly fantastic job capturing all the pain and awkwardness of being a teenager, while torturing their characters even more with the whole coming apocalypse thing!

Ja, jag vet inte riktigt var jag ska börja. Om man har läst Cirkeln och undrar om man ska fortsätta är svaret definitivt ett "ja". Så vitt jag minns det, blir det bara bättre för varje bok. Det här blir ingen lång review nu, för det händer så mycket att jag inte ens minns något, men här är i alla fall några tankar jag har efter att ha läst ut Eld.
1. Viktor är en av de bästa karaktärerna fight meee. Jag råkar ju veta att jag älskar honom i nästa bok så jag vet inte hur objektiv jag kan vara, men han är en så fascinerande karaktär. Det gör mig så ledsen att ingen litar på honom :( Protect.
2. Något som irriterade mig var bara att Vanessa var så "hung up" på Wille hela tiden. Men det gick ju bra till slut. Ärligt, förstod aldrig vad någon såg i Wille.
3. PE, eller Positiva Engelsfors, är faktiskt SJUKT obehagligt. Tror inte att jag har märkt av det lika mycket de tidigare gångerna.
4. Demonernas välsignade.
5. Rådet är skevt som bara den, men det visste vi väl redan.

Jag är imponerad av författarna. Trots att jag har läst boken två gånger innan kunde jag verkligen inte komma ihåg vem det var som låg bakom allting. Jag visste bara att det inte var Helena eller Krister. Först trodde jag att det var Rickard, för jag har för mig att han också är en häxa (kanske får man veta det i nästa bok?), men det dröjde ett bra tag innan jag kom på att det var Olivia. Well played.5. Rådet är skevt som bara den, men det visste vi väl redan.

Hon har genomgått en stor förändring, droppen är efter allt det som hände med Erik. Därför gör det alltid lite ont när det är hon som dör i slutet av boken. Mönstrens bok som konstant hade lovat henne att hon kommer bli av med sina krafter, bara hon samarbetar med de andra utvalda. Att den visade henne en framtidsbild av Gustaf som kysser henne. Det blir bara väldigt sorgligt när man inser att första gången hon känner riktig kärlek till de andra tjejerna, dör hon och blir av med sina krafter. Gustaf kysser henne aldrig, utan försöker bara blåsa luft i hennes lungor. SO SAD IT GETS ME EVERY TIME. Kommer dock ihåg Gränslandet nu från sista boken, och med tanke på den sista scenen i kyrkan är JAG TAGGAD.
