I had fun reading it, but i don’t think I took from it what was supposed to be taken, I am not a Shakespeare fan so that may be it. I did think it was rather obvious but then maybe it was supposed to be?  I’m not sure it wasn’t clear to me whether it was meant to be obvious to the reader or not. I also didn’t like the little ending switch-up. But I did enjoy myself.

What happens when life begins to mirror fiction? This book explored what happens when a group of acting students began to get too deep into their characters, especially when these roles are challenged by unexpected casting choices.

I really didn't know what to expect from this book, but what I found was far from what I could have imagined. The world is brought to life by the dialect of the characters, not just normal talking, their speech is woven with lines from Shakespeare. In addition, I felt like the way the characters mimic their Shakespearian roles is obvious without being too much.

Overall, it was an entertaining mystery with a really nice structure and pacing and all the Shakespearian references you could want.

i want to slam my head against the wall just to feel something, because after this book and the absolute emotional tornado it came with, i'm not sure i will be able to ever again.
i feel empty, and desperate, sad, miserable and relieved, and so full of burning love and passion for this book.
it so violently reminded me why i love reading so fucking much.
it's books like these that make life seem bright and joyful and lively and horrible and beautiful. that make emotions a thing of reality, not just type-written words, ink on paper, a meaningless mess of letters.
i feel so god awful and all choked up with affection.

if i died now i would be most okay with that, knowing i'd had the opportunity to consume this magnum opus of a piece of literature.

doubt thou the stars are fire,
doubt that the sun doth move,
doubt truth to be a liar,
but never doubt i love.

(... this book; thanks shakespeare)

This would have been 4⭐ if
they hadn't had it be queerbait at the very end. Give me James and Oliver's gay happy ending.

The reveal was predictable, but not so much what came after it. The slight predictability and how slow it felt at some parts, combined with what can be difficult reading if like me you're unfamiliar with theatrical and Shakespearean terminology is what brings this rating down. But otherwise, this is an interesting book and I'm glad to have read it. This might just be personal taste, but I'm not too sure it quite lives up to the hype of its online fandom.

I enjoyed this book so much, I don’t care if it was pretentious. The ending though? I’m baffled.
