I really don't know much about Greek myths, I never got into them much as a kid, but I have been reading a lot of retellings of Greek myths as an adult and love them, so it was great learning some of the background about those amazing female characters who have gotten screwed over by so many other narratives. The chapter on Madea is possibly The best--it's incredibly intense and emotionally powerful. But I also love the chapters on Medusa, Pandora, and the Amazons.
The author also has a great voice and sense of humor which made this audiobook all the more enjoyable.

- PANDORA'S JAR is for everyone who loves Greek mythology but wishes the women weren't protrayed only as objects or monsters.
- Even if you think you know it all in terms of myth, I'll bet Haynes digs out some alternate tellings and translations you haven't seen, giving everyone from Persephone to Clytemnestra new dimensions.
- Plus, this books is funny as heck. Haynes is dryly sarcastic, giving much needed levity to these tales of tragedy and woe.

I feel as though anyone could enjoy this book, whether you know a little or a lot about greek mythology.
Itβs a smart and funny deep-dive that somehow manages to stay accessible without sacrificing quality of writing or content. I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter!
