i really liked this! i felt it was nice to see perspectives on greek myths from women’s points of view, from more well known and retold women (helen, medusa) as well as from lesser known and retold women (jocasta, phaedra)

Pandora’s Jar is a fascinating, multi-perspective look at women in Greek Mythology. Natalie Haynes does an amazing job of bringing together multiple perspectives and telling of each woman’s story to provide a well-rounded account. The research is exhaustive. Each character comes to life. And when you reach the end of the book, you’re wishing there was more.
Content not appropriate for kids, and some themes may be triggering.

Another fantastic book by Natalie Haynes. Going into even more depth about women she had previously talked about in her book A Thousand Ships, while adding more women to the list of forgotten voices in Greek myths.

Haynes' voice shines through and strikes a balance between academic and entertaining. I learned a lot about the variance in Greek myths and how minor translation choices can make a huge difference in the audience's understanding of characters and motivation.
