Haynes' voice shines through and strikes a balance between academic and entertaining. I learned a lot about the variance in Greek myths and how minor translation choices can make a huge difference in the audience's understanding of characters and motivation.

Ar first I thought it would be a good idea to read this but by bit in between books. This was not a good idea. The second half, I read without mixing it with other books and I enjoyed it a lot more.

I am really not familiar with all the characters of Greek mythology, so I had to properly concentrate to keep going.

I liked the reflections and overall POV. Well done.

Maybe now I might read Circe?

For some reason, I have never thought that the greek myths we know best, are in fact just one retelling and there are many others that could be more accurate, or at least portray a different view (that view obviously being from the women). This was such a good introduction to classical history, in a bite sized manner, and on characters that someone like me (semi decent ancient greek mythology knowledge) is familiar with. I really enjoyed seeing all the art and modern media retellings of famous myths, as well as the snarky comments from the author

Such an amazing book to delve into a few the women of Greek myths. A great springboard to look into other similar texts, too.

Haynes explores various themes and arguments for each woman, linking a few of them together (it's Greek myth, everyone's related).

Not a full 5 stars for me as sometimes I felt I as the reader needed to know the myths better to understand some of the points Haynes made.
